If you’re planning a Colorado ski vacation, this might be your perfect destination. With its vast terrain, world-class amenities, and the iconic pedestrian village, Vail seamlessly blends European charm with American grandeur. This review offers a comprehensive look into Vail Ski Resort, aiming to assist potential holidaymakers in making an informed decision for their next ski vacation or perhaps a luxurious Vail ski trip.

  • Trails & Lifts: With 195 trails and 32 lifts, Vail ensures accessibility and variety. The longest run, Riva Ridge, stretches over 4 miles, perfect for those on a Vail ski trip who love a long ride. Lift tickets can be acquired as part of many Vail ski packages for convenience.
  • Snowfall & Elevation: Boasting an average annual snowfall of 354 inches, Vail provides consistent snow conditions.
  • Elevations range from a base of 8,120 feet to a peak of 11,570 feet, offering a significant vertical rise of 3,450 feet which vail ski aficionados cherish.

Notable Ski Zones:

Mid Mountain: Known for its Five Star Grooming, Mid Mountain offers wide groomers, beginner-friendly moguls, and steep challenges. Adventure zones, such as Chaos Canyon and the thrilling Adventure Ridge, are must-visits on your Vail ski trip.

Golden Peak: This zone is home to Vail’s renowned Ski and Snowboard School. It boasts a terrain park and the notable Golden Peak Race Course, a must for any Vail ski enthusiast.

Northwoods Bowl & Game Creek Bowl: These zones offer a mix of powder, tree skiing, and challenging terrains. The Game Creek Bowl alone offers over 200 acres of varied skiing terrain, a treat for Vail ski lovers.

China Bowl, Sun Up & Sun Down Bowl: These areas offer legendary back bowl skiing, with China Bowl providing both advanced and intermediate runs. The Sun Up & Sun Down Bowl promises unmatched views and vast Vail ski terrains.

Siberia & Mongolia Bowl: Ideal for the adventurous Vail ski enthusiasts, this zone offers ungroomed, variable terrain.

Blue Sky Basin: Experience the backcountry within bounds here, with open meadows, playful groomed glades, and unmatched views of Vail Mountain and the surrounding peaks.

Vail Village: The heartbeat of the resort and part of the luxury collection resort portfolio, Vail Village is reminiscent of European alpine towns like Park City. It boasts world-class dining with renowned restaurants like Matsuhisa Vail and Sweet Basil. Accommodations range from boutique luxury hotels like The Lodge at Vail to luxury establishments such as The Ritz-Carlton Residences, ideal for epic pass holders looking for an elite stay.

Activities & Amenities: Beyond Vail ski and snowboarding experiences, Vail offers a range of activities. From scenic gondola rides, ski biking, ice skating, and ski lessons to shopping and spa experiences as part of the Vail vacation packages, there’s something for everyone. Snow tubing is also a hit among families. The Nature Discovery Center is a unique attraction, revealing the wonders of Vail’s wilderness. Equipment rentals are easy and convenient for those who require them.

Getting There: Accessibility to Vail is commendable. The Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) offers both commercial and private jet services. Those flying privately can benefit from the Vail Valley Jet Center’s plethora of services. Additionally, the resort is a short 30 miles from EGE and 100 miles from Denver International Airport (DEN). Various shuttle, private car, and rental car services, like the Epic Mountain Express, make transit effortless. Those with an epic pass can also find exclusive transportation deals.
