Sun Peaks Ski Resort

Sun Peaks Ski Resort Review: Canada’s Alpine Haven

Introduction

Welcome to Sun Peaks, where sun peaks ski packages give you access to deep steeps, long cruisers, glade zones, powder stashes, and meticulously groomed corduroy trails. Spanning a massive 4,270-acre skiable terrain, Sun Peaks is nestled in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. Not only does it stand out as Canada’s second-largest ski area and a top destination for ski vacations, but Sun Peaks is also a genuine winter haven. Here’s an in-depth review to guide your ski vacation decision, whether you’re considering sun peaks ski packages or just a day trip.

Ski Area Features

Size and Terrain: Boasting 4,270 acres spread across three distinct mountains, skiers and riders looking into sun peaks ski packages will indeed find value. Each mountain has its own character, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to experts, finds their perfect slope. Sun Peaks ski vacation packages might include lift tickets to enjoy the 13 lifts, 138 trails, and 19 gladed areas, making sure there’s always space to carve fresh tracks.

Snow Quality: British Columbia’s interior is legendary for its light, dry snow, and Sun Peaks proudly showcases this, especially for those who opt for sun peaks ski packages. With a generous annual snowfall of 6 meters, the snow conditions remain pristine for most of the ski season.

Sunshine: Sun Peaks, living up to its name, offers visitors over 2,000 hours of annual sunshine. It’s more than just one of the leading ski destinations; it’s a place to soak in nature’s beauty.

Winter Activities

For those who love Sun Peaks and its offerings, the resort isn’t just about downhill skiing:

Adventurous Activities: Sun Peaks ski packages might include options for backcountry tours, dog sledding adventures, snowmobiling, and more. Other exciting activities include Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing and the Alpine Fondue & Starlight Descent on Sundance Mountain.

Leisurely Pursuits: Sun Peaks ski packages often cater to diverse tastes, from ice skating on an NHL-sized rink to horse-drawn sleigh rides and even axe throwing.

Cultural and Spiritual: Enjoy the local culture with activities like attending a Kamloops Blazers hockey game, or skiing with Olympian Nancy Greene.

Wellness: Dive deeper into relaxation with Sun Peaks Yoga or explore the resort’s extensive snowshoe trail system.

Village Charm

The sun peaks ski vacation experience extends beyond the slopes. Its European-style ski-through village at Sun Peaks Resort is the heartbeat of the mountain. From the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel to quaint shops and inviting eateries like Bottoms Bar, this village provides the perfect après ski scene. And with the village nestled right amid the three mountains, skiing from your accommodation, whether it’s the Sun Peaks Grand or another cozy spot, is a delightful reality.

Resort Reviews

We have been to Sun Peaks twice now. The second time for two weeks. With no queues, ski in/out, lovely instructors for the kids, and free guided tours twice a day for us it is really hard to go anywhere else. It is a shame more resorts don't have the free tours as it means you can ski with people at a similar skill level if you aren't as good as your friends or if you want to take it easy and they want to go gung-ho.
